IMPORTANT ATWIC ANNOUNCEMENT

To Whom It May Concern:

The SW Pennsylvania region is facing a great deal of fiscal ambiguity as it relates to state and local support for transportation infrastructure improvements and public transit operations.  In light of this uncertain transportation funding environment, ATWIC will not be accepting grant applications for FY2012-2013 JARC or NF projects.

Instead, ATWIC will extend for another year the non-capital JARC and NF grants that were awarded to the region’s FY2011-2012 project sponsors.  This will help to ensure that we don’t lose ground with the successful mitigation of critical transportation gaps by currently-funded projects.  These grant extensions will cover the time period beginning July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2013.

Welcome To ATWIC!

The role of ATWIC is to:

  • Work directly with human services, workforce development, and transportation sectors in order to fully understand where transportation gaps exist and the impact of these gaps on the region's poor and disabled populations.
  • Support the coordination of accessible transportation initiatives across southwestern Pennsylvania's ten-county region.
  • Facilitate the implementation of projects designed to alleviate the most significant transportation access barriers.
  • Manage FTA's Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) and New Freedom (NF) grant programs for Pittsburgh's Urbanized Area.
